# Ryzen AI 9 HX 470 vs HX 370: what changed?

Explainer · AI PC hardware · 2 min read. By [David Wilson](https://testbenchlab.com/authors/david-wilson/). Updated 2026-10-02.

HX 470 refreshes the HX 370 platform with higher headline clocks and NPU capability. It remains an HX-tier processor, rather than a move to Strix Halo. Choose a suitable memory configuration before paying a large premium for the newer suffix.

| Manufacturer maximum | HX 370 | HX 470 |
|---|---|---|
| Cores / threads | 12 / 24 | 12 / 24 |
| CPU boost | Up to 5.1GHz | Up to 5.2GHz |
| Graphics | Radeon 890M | Radeon 890M |
| NPU | Up to 50 TOPS | Up to 55 TOPS |

## HX 470 vs HX 370 specs

Both are 12-core, 24-thread Ryzen AI 9 processors with Radeon 890M graphics. The newer chip raises the headline CPU and NPU specifications. The chassis still determines power, cooling and installed memory.

## Does the HX 470 run AI faster?

A higher NPU figure matters only to a workload using that NPU. GPU inference also depends on memory and software. No universal percentage improvement is justified for every local model.

## Which mini PCs use the HX 470?

Geekom A9 Max 2026 is our preferred option. Minisforum AI X1 Pro-470 and GMKtec EVO-X1 Pro are alternatives. Store URLs may persist across generations; inspect the variant selected in the cart.

## Should you buy the HX 470 version?

Prefer it for a modest premium in an otherwise matched configuration. A discounted HX 370 with suitable RAM can be a better buy. For much larger models, a tier change matters more than this refresh.

## Frequently asked questions

### Is the HX 470 worth it over the HX 370?

For a small premium with matching RAM and storage, it is our preference. Configuration and a substantial discount can outweigh the generation change.
